S téměř 150,000 členy, z nichž více než třetina jsou studenti a mladší inženýři do věku 33 let je Asociace německých inženýrů – The Association of German Engineers (VDI) jednou z největších vědecko-technických asociací v Evropě. V průběhu několika let VDI úspěšně rozšířila svoji činnost jak v celostátním, tak v mezinárodním měřítku a usiluje o rozšiřování a předávání znalostí v oblastech souvisejících s technologiemi.
