Normy VDE - Německé normy - strana 1791
VDE - Německé sdružení pro elektrotechnické, elektronické a informační technologie bylo založeno již v roce 1893. Zasazuje se o moderní vzdělávání odborníků a vysokou akceptaci techniky u obyvatelstva. Podporuje rozvoj elektrotechniky, elektroniky a informačních technologií a jejich souvisejících technologií.
Hlavním těžištěm činnosti sdružení je bezpečnost v elektrotechnice, vypracování uznávaných pravidel techniky jako národní a mezinárodní normy, zkoušení a certifikace přístrojů a systémů.
Americká varianta norem VDE je označována jako UL norma (Underwriters Laboratories).
