IEC 62841-1:2014 deals with the safety of electric motor-operated or magnetically driven: - hand-held tools (IEC 62841-2); - transportable tools (IEC 62841-3); - lawn and garden machinery (IEC 62841-4). The above listed categories are hereinafter referred to as "tools" or "machines". The rated voltage is not more than 250 V for single-phase a.c. or d.c. tools, and 480 V for three-phase a.c. tools. The rated input is not more than 3 700 W. The limits for the applicability of this standard for battery tools are given in K.1 and L.1. This standard deals with the hazards presented by tools which are encountered by all persons in the normal use and reasonably foreseeable misuse of the tools. Tools with electric heating elements are within the scope of this standard. Hand-held electric tools, which can be mounted on a support or working stand for use as fixed tools without any alteration of the tool itself, are within the scope of this standard and such combination of a hand-held tool and a support is considered to be a transportable tool and thus covered by the relevant Part 3. This standard is scheduled to cancel and replace the fourth edition of IEC 60745-1, published in 2006, the first edition of IEC 61029-1, published in 1990, and the fifth edition of IEC 60335-1, published in 2010, only with respect to requirements concerning lawn and garden machinery. The latter publications remain valid until they are withdrawn. This standard constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the fourth edition of IEC 60745-1: - requirements in various clauses introduced or modified in order to include the requirements for transportable tools and lawn and garden machinery (formerly covered by IEC 61029-1 and IEC 60335-1); - leakage current test and electric strength test moved from former Clauses 13 and 15 to Annexes C and D; - former Clauses 29, 30 and 31 renumbered to become Clauses 6, 13 and 15; - requirements for electronic safety critical functions added to Clause 18; - requirements for switches revised and moved from Annex I to Clause 23; - clarifications in respect to soft materials (elastomers) added to Clauses 9, 19 and 13; - test finger in Figure 1 of IEC 60745-1 and test probe in Figure 2 of IEC 60745-1 replaced by references to basic IEC standards; - requirements for Li-Ion battery systems added to Annexes K and L and Annex M was removed. La tension assignee est inferieure a 250 V pour les outils a courant monophase alternatif ou continu, et inferieure a 480 V pour les outils a courant alternatif triphase. La tension assignee est inferieure a 3 700 W. Les limites dapplication de la presente Norme aux outils fonctionnant sur batterie sont indiquees en K.1 et L.1. La presente Norme traite des dangers presentes par les outils, encourus par tous les individus dans lutilisation normale et dans lutilisation impropre raisonnablement previsible de ces outils. Les outils comportant des elements chauffants electriques entrent dans le domaine dapplication de la presente Norme. Les outils electroportatifs, qui peuvent etre montes sur un support de travail pour etre utilises comme outils installes a poste fixe sans aucune modification de loutil lui-meme, sont compris dans le domaine dapplication de la presente Norme et la combinaison dun outil portatif et dun support est consideree comme un outil portable, donc couvert par la Partie 3 applicable. La presente norme est prevue pour annuler et remplacer la quatrieme edition de lIEC 60745-1, publiee en 2006, la premiere edition de lIEC 61029-1, publiee en 1990, et la cinquieme edition de lIEC 60335-1, publiee en 2010, uniquement en ce qui concerne les exigences ayant trait aux machines pour jardins et pelouses. Les dernieres publications restent valides jusqua ce quelles soient retirees. La presente norme constitue une revision technique. Cette edition inclut les modifications techniques majeures suivantes par rapport a la quatrieme edition de la CEI 60745-1: - ajout ou modification dexigences dans plusieurs articles, afin dinclure les exigences relatives aux outils portables et aux machines pour jardins et pelouses (auparavant couverts par la CEI 61029-1 et la CEI 60335-1); - les essais de courant de fuite et de rigidite dielectrique ont ete deplaces des Articles 13 et 15 aux Annexes C et D; - les Articles 29, 30 et 31 ont ete renumerotes Articles 6, 13 et 15; - ajout a lArticle 18 des exigences relatives aux fonctions electroniques critiques pour la securite; - les exigences relatives aux interrupteurs ont ete revisees et deplacees de lAnnexe I a lArticle 23; - les Articles 9, 19 et 13 ont ete clarifies en ce qui concerne les materiaux doux (elastomeres); - le doigt depreuve de la Figure 1 de la CEI 60745-1 et la sonde dessai de la Figure 2 de la CEI 60745-1 ont ete remplaces par des references aux normes de base de la CEI; - ajout des exigences relatives aux systemes de batterie Li-Ion aux Annexes K et L et la suppression de lAnnexe M.
