IEC 60294:2012 applies to cylindrical capacitors and resistors for use in electronic equipment. This standard gives methods for measurement of the body length and for checking the excessive protective coating extending onto the wire terminations of components with axial wire terminations. It further provides a method for checking the overall body diameter of cylindrical components with axial wire terminations. NOTE: A measuring method for components with unidirectional terminations is given in IEC 60717. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition, published in 1969, and constitutes a technical revision. The main technical changes with respect to the first edition are the following: - employment of SI units only, causing deletion of all imperial dimensions, - reduction of the tolerance on the chamfer depth in Figure 1 and Figure 2, - elaboration of the method for coating material extending onto wire terminations, - elaboration of the method for the overall body diameter, and - introduction of requirements on information to be given in a relevant specification. La CEI 60294:2012 sapplique aux condensateurs et resistances cylindriques destines a etre utilises dans les materiels electroniques. Cette norme donne des methodes pour la mesure de la longueur du corps et pour la verification de lexcedent de revetement de protection sur les fils de sorties des composants a fils de sorties axiales. Elle donne egalement une methode pour la verification du diametre hors-tout du corps des composants cylindriques a fils de sorties axiales. NOTE: Une methode de mesure pour les composants a sorties unilaterales est donnee dans la CEI 60717. Cette deuxieme edition annule et remplace la premiere edition parue en 1969. Elle constitue une revision technique. Les principales modifications techniques par rapport a la premiere edition sont les suivantes: - utilisation dunites SI uniquement, entrainant la suppression de toutes les dimensions imperiales, - reduction de la tolerance pour la profondeur du chanfrein a la Figure 1 et a la Figure 2, - elaboration de la methode relative a lextension du materiau de revetement sur les fils de sorties, - elaboration de la methode relative au diametre hors-tout du corps, et - introduction des exigences relatives aux informations a fournir dans une specification applicable.
