It is intended to familiarize operating personnel with the use of gas lift as an artificial lift system.

The publication of Recommended Practice 19GLHB consolidates content from the following standards: 19G5, Operation, Maintenance, Surveillance, and Troubleshooting of Gas-Lift Installations, 1st Edition 11V6, Recommended Practice for Design of Continuous Flow Gas Lift Installations Using Injection Pressure Operated Valves, 2nd Edition 11V8, Recommended Practice for Gas Lift System Design and Performance Prediction, 1st Edition 19G9, Design, Operation, and Troubleshooting of Dual Gas-Lift Wells, 2nd Edition 19G10, Design and Operation of Intermittent Gas-Lift Systems, 1st Edition 19G11, Dynamic Simulation of Gas-Lift Wells and Systems, 1st Edition In addition to consolidating content from these other standards, the new standard API 19GLHB presents updated information on gas lift systems, which provide a means of enhancing the natural production of hydrocarbons from a producing oil or gas well. Gas lift is widely used because of its broad spectrum of capabilities to increase production volumes, and the new document provides the reader with a fundamental knowledge of the general aspects of modern gas lift systems.
