Volume 05.05 also covers test methods to determine characteristics of motor and aviation fuels and the ignition characteristics of diesel fuels. This volume contains all the newest standards from ASTM Committee D02 – including D7974-15, Standard Test Method for Determination of Farnesane, Saturated Hydrocarbons, and Hexahydrofarnesol Content of Synthesized Iso-Paraffins (SIP) Fuel for Blending with Jet Fuel by Gas Chromotography. ASTM D7974 is the first standard to identify the protocols necessary to blend mid-level ethanol fuels at the terminal and retail level that equal the fuel quality and performance expected from fuels meeting other ASTM fuel specifications.
